BEAUTY: Autumn Makeup

Autumn is well and truly here and I've already started switching up my wardrobe (the jumpers are definitely out and I bought a new coat the other day, yes really) and so I thought it was about time I started to switch up my makeup too.  Now I don't tend to switch my makeup up too much to be honest, once I've found a base and products that I like I am guilty of sticking to them but Autumn does see me changing up some of my products.

To start off I use Benefit POREfessional, a primer I'm really happy I purchased as it really helps to just smooth out the skin before my base and it's extremely light on the skin.  For base, I stick to my faithful favourite L'Oreal Infalliable Matte Foundation a really high coverage drugstore foundation that just gives an absolute flawless base.  Topped up with Nars Translucent Powder and contoured with Nars Laguna Bronzer to create some cheekbones and give some definition to the face, this is the perfect colour for Autumn as it just warms up my face.  For blush I tend to reach for the warmer shades instead of the pinks which grace my cheeks during the Summer months, my favourite one is Stila Convertible Colour in Magnolia, a real dewy dusky pink that really highlights the cheeks.  As the blusher is quite dewy I only apply a little highlighter on the tops of my cheeks, down my nose and under my brow bone, MAC Hush is my highlighter of choice, a really gorgeous frosty pink that isn't too overpowering on the skin.

For eyes I've been reaching for the more aubergine and purple shades such as Plum Dressing and Star Violet but for a more subtle look my Urban Decay Naked 2 Basics is the perfect palette.  I use every shade in there and it's brilliant for creating a brown smokey eye which is perfect for Autumn.  Lining my eyes with the Collection Fast Stroke Liner (which I forgot to photograph) which is cheap and cheerful but does the job of keeping my liner in place and black all day long.  Finishing off the eyes with lashings of Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara, a great drugstore alternative to Benefit Roller Lash and keeps the lashes looking long and voluminous.  For brows my new Classic Brow Lead by Browhaus* which I received at the #bloggersfestival comes in very handy and is super easy to use to create defined brows, finished off with Benefit Gimme Brow as always.

If theres one thing that screams Autumn makeup it's berry lipsticks, now I'm not the most adventurous with my lip colours, I guess I'm a little scared of trying any deep berrys or reds but I do rather like this Clinique Black Honey as it's more of a tinted lip balm but gives a subtle wash of berryness on to the lips and still keeps them hydrated at the same time.  One lipstick that I am taking into Autumn with me is MAC Brave, this will forever be my favourite lipstick and one that I wear nearly everyday (told you I tend to stick to the same makeup look).  Although I have made a very recent purchase in MAC Plumful (so recent thats why it's not on the photo) and I think for the moment it's my starting point for berry/plum lipsticks, it's the most gorgeous shade and so buildable so I can just have a wash of colour or build it up to something more of a statement.

And that's my Autumn makeup done and dusted, I'm so excited to start experimenting more with darker tones for my lips and eyes!  What products do you use for Autumn? Give me your berry/plum lipstick recommendations!
