TRAVEL: Stockholm, Sweden

Stockholm was one of the cities that I was most excited to visit on my recent holiday.  Don't ask me why, I can't explain why I was so excited, I just was.  Maybe because I associate Sweden with minimalism and girls having a great sense of style, they did bring us H&M after all, oh and IKEA.

One of amazing things about cruising is the approach to the docks, it's definitely a new and brilliant way to see a country.  The approach to Stockholm was so beautiful, the water was insanely calm as we glided through and it was full of these little islands, some of which were inhabited (seriously what a place to live!) and some just masses of greenery.  It was so serene and peaceful and I just sat there drinking it all in.

The city was everything I wanted it to be and more.  Gorgeous old buildings, beautiful docks and bustling streets full of shoppers (seriously there was a H&M on every corner).  We actually jumped on a hop on hop off bus to get around the city as we were only there for a day and wanted to make the most of it which we most definitely did, I know hop on hop off buses might seem really touristy but they really do show you the best bits of the city and I personally really enjoy them.  If I hadn't been on the bus then I wouldn't have known that there was an ABBA museum, we didn't go in but it's 100% on my to do list the next time I head there (yes I'm being serious).  The bus gave us a great overview of what the city had to offer and gave a good indication whether we would want to return, 100% yes on that!

The Old Town of Stockholm was definitely my favourite area, a maze of small cobbled streets with hidden restaurants and local shops filled with handmade dolls, gifts and home ware items.  It was so lovely to just wander through and get a little lost and I would have loved to have stayed a little longer to enjoy some of the restaurants around the square.

As we left Stockholm, we were met with the most incredible sunset, every second the colour of the sky changed, it was literally insane and needless to say I got a little bit snap happy.

Stockholm you were insanely beautiful and I'm already planning my next trip back! I featured more of Stockholm in my travel vlog, take a little look below!

Have you ever visited Stockholm? Would you like to?
