The Sunday Post: Rising Above

This week I learnt that some people just want to get you down.  I'm not going to divulge any more than I need to over the internet but thought it would be a relevant topic for me to talk about this week.

When every comment they make is a dig or a negative response to what you said.  There is no need.  I understand that everyone is entitled to their own opinion but when they don't respect your opinion as it is different to theirs and they tell you that you are wrong, I don't agree with that.  These comments they make are intentionally trying to get you down.  I know it's because they themselves are insecure so are trying to make themselves feel better by bringing other people down.  I'm lucky that I'm a strong person so I can take these comments with a pinch of salt and don't let it bother me too much (although it does make me extremely angry) but I know that that is not the case for everyone.  Comments like that more often than not stem from some kind of jealousy which is an odd thought I know.  The way to deal with it is to not let it bother you.  Rise above the comments and don't come out with a scathing comment back otherwise you will just be as bad as them.  Try to rise about it and ignore them which I know in certain situations can be difficult but if they realise that whatever they are saying isn't bothering you then they will soon stop as they can see they aren't getting a response.

I've got no time for people who try to bring other people down as there is no need for it, #girlpower an all that.  But sometimes we are put in situations where we have to deal with these people on a day to day basis which is unfortunate.  You have to learn to be civil which is hard for me as my face shows every single emotion so you can tell when I'm not happy with the way someone is speaking to me, but I'm working on it.

How do you deal in situations like this?
