TRAVEL: 9 Free/Low Cost Things To Do in Sydney, Australia

There are so many great activities to do in Sydney that do not break the bank so I decided to compile a list to make it easier for you:

1. Walk across the Sydney Harbour Bridge: Such a simple activity and you can take in the views of the whole city and the Sydney Opera House, so beautiful!

2. Walk though/relax in the Botanical Gardens: Again views of the Opera House and the park is such a lovely quiet place to relax and enjoy the sunshine.  There is also the Art Gallery of NSW located there which I personally recommend, for a rainy day that is.

3. Sydney Opera House: Sydney's icon.  You can walk around the bottom of the Opera House so you can get a full 360 degree view of it and amazing views of the Harbour Bridge.  You can also take a tour of the inside of the Opera House which is around $30/40.

4. Fireworks over Darling Harbour: On Saturday nights there are fireworks at the harbour at 8:30/9pm and they are amazing.  Make sure you get down early to get a good spot!

5. Bondi Beach: Again a must see when you're in Sydney, the bus from the city takes 30/40 minutes and costs around $10 return.  The beach is always rammed, full of surfers and has lots of cafes, restaurants and shops to keep you occupied if you're not much of a sunbather.

6. Ferry to Manly: Manly is located a short 20 minute ferry ride ($15 return) away north of the city and is well worth a visit.  It doesn't get as busy as Bondi but is still full of surfers, swimmers and again lots of shops, cafes and restaurants. It's a nice break away from the city.

7. Pylon Lookout: I highly highly recommend the Pylon Lookout especially if you're not too fussed about doing the full bridge climb, you get the best views of the city, harbour and can also see all the way to Rose Bay.

8. Walking Tour: There are two free walking tours in the city.  One leaves from the Town Hall (10:30am and 2:30pm) and goes right through the city, down to the Harbour and finishes in the Rocks.  There is also a tour just of the Rocks that leaves at 6:30pm.  These tours are free but the tour guides are volunteers so they expect a small donation as payment. A great easy way to see the city especially if you're not too sure of your surroundings and don't want to get lost or you just want to know more about the city.

9. Bondi to Coogee Coastal Walk: This coastal walk was one of my favourite things that I did in Sydney as it is so beautiful! The whole walk is 5km long and takes around 2.5 hours to complete but it does not seem that long as the coast is so amazing.  It dives in and out with crashing waves and many beaches such as Clovelly, Bronte and Tanarama in between, well worth it!
