TRAVEL: 10 Tips for Stress Free Flight Travel

Flying. It's one of those words that can either fill you with dread of a long flight or can give you a warm fuzzy feeling inside about going on a new adventure.  For me it's the latter, I love flying.  I love all the preparation, checking in, boarding and the flight itself as I try to cram in watching as many films as possible, I even love turbulence! But I know that not everyone feels the same way about flight travel so I compiled some tips to make it that bit more easier and comfortable for you:

1. Leave for the airport early: I'm the type of person who would rather be an hour early than getting there with 5 minutes to spare and I think when travelling it is definitely better to arrive early, what if there is traffic, a massive queue at check in? Get there early, you won't feel as rushed and will start your trip off on a good foot.

2. Check in online: If you can check in online, do it! It saves time and stress of checking in at the airport, also you can usually choose your seat so you know you won't be stuck in the middle seat!

3. Use a document holder: Keep your passport, e-tickets and any other paperwork that you may need together in a document holder and place it in your hand luggage so it is accessible and you won't have have a panic attack when you can't find your boarding pass.

4. Remember your flight number: So it's instantly recognisable over the tannoy and easy to spot on the information board.

5. Have a compact carry on: Try not to have too big a carry on bag as it's awkward to carry and is just more to worry about, try to keep everything as concise as possible.

6. Dress comfortably: Especially if you have a long flight, try to dress as comfortably as possible just to make the flight easier for you.  My travel outfit is either comfy joggers/leggings, t-shirt and a hoodie.  I always pack a scarf and socks as well as flights do get quite chilly and some airlines don't provide blankets.

7. Carry a small beauty bag: A small beauty bag (face wipes, deodorant, toothbrush, toothpaste, hair bobbles and lip balm etc) is ideal for long flights just so you can freshen up when you land or in between flights.  Remember to keep everything in a see through zip up plastic bag.

8. Drink lots of water: Planes can dry your throat and lips out so ensure that you drink lots of water to keep hydrated.  Buy a bottle before you get on the plane but if not airlines always provide free water too.

9. Carry an iPad/laptop/smart phone: Mainly to keep you occupied whilst flying and just in case your in flight entertainment doesn't work it's great if you have films on them, I couldn't think of anything worse!!

10. Know what to do when you arrive at a destination: Have at least a slight plan of where you will be going when you land, for example, how will you get from the airport to your accomodation? Have some currency in your purse so you can easily pay for transport etc. Knowing what you are doing when you land will just make your travel easier and you won't have to worry about it.
