TRAVEL: Pylon Lookout - Sydney Harbour Bridge

The Sydney Harbour Bridge is iconic and one of the first images that springs to mind (along with the Opera house) when you think of Australia.  From the point of view of the bridge you are able to see the spectacular views of the city, the opera house and the Harbour etc.  Now there are three ways for you to experience this view:

1. To just walk over the bridge which takes about 15-20 minutes.
2. To complete the Bridge Climb, definitely not for the faint hearted!
3. To visit the Pylon Lookout.

Now if you're not up to walking 3 hours right over the bridge (it's a very big bridge!!) then I highly recommend the pylon lookout as you get similar views for a measly $13!

The Pylon Lookout is located at the South East pylon at the Sydney Harbour Bridge and you can gain access by walking the pedestrian pathway on the eastern side of the Bridge (from the Rocks).  There are 202 steps leading up to the lookout but along the way there are 3 levels of an exhibit where you are learn about the history and the construction of the bridge and also visit the gift shop (always the best bit!)

Now I have seen the Harbour Bridge and the Opera House countless times and have many a photo so I knew what to expect but nothing could prepare me for the view that I got when I reached the top!

Once you have paid your way up then you are welcome to stay as long as you like (until it closes obviously) so sit back and enjoy the views!!

Opening times: Open 7 days a week from 10am - 5pm (closed Christmas Day)

Admission: General admission is $13
